Bug Clippie Tutorial

I'm in love with all of the cute little clips all over the place for my girls.  The problem is that I am pretty stinkin cheap!  I came up with this caterpillar clippie and I love it.  The possibilities are endless with color combinations and it's super easy and cheap to make.

Supplies:

  • Glue Gun
  • Scissors
  • Alligator Clip (I line mine but you don't have too.  Just be careful with the glue.)
  • Heat sealing tool
  • 5 pieces of 3 inch ribbon.  I prefer saddle stitch for this clip but you could really use anything you want.  Heat seal the ends.  It will drive you crazy if you don't.
  • 1 2 inch piece of silk cord.
  • 2 eye balls

Start rolling your ribbon pieces tightly.  Once they are rolled glue the ends so they stay in a ball.  This step can be tough, don't burn yourself!

You'll end up with 5 jelly roll's

Start gluing your jelly rolls on your clip, but only glue 4 of them.

Take your piece of silk cor and bend it so it looks like a V.  Then you want to glue it next the roll that is closest to the opening.  This part is a little tricky don't burn yourself!

After you glue your cord, glue the final roll as close to it as you can.  You may need to squeeze a little but the ribbon is forgiving, don't worry.

Next, glue your eyes onto your little bug and you're set!  Your little princess is gonna love these!
